Disney and Pixar have once again captured the hearts and minds of audiences worldwide with the trailer launch for the highly anticipated sequel, Inside Out 2. The excitement was palpable as the first look at the film became the biggest animated trailer launch in Disney history, garnering a staggering 157 million views in 24 hours. This record-breaking feat surpasses the previous record holder, 2019’s Frozen 2.
The trailer takes viewers back into the mind of the now teenage Riley, whose emotions are working overtime to keep up with her new feelings. Pete Docter, Chief Creative Officer of Pixar, expressed his thrill at the overwhelming response to the trailer. He shared that the first film’s success had hinted at the vast potential for exploration within the concept of visualizing our emotions, those little voices inside our heads.
Docter praised director Kelsey Mann and his team for their exceptional work on Inside Out 2, lauding their efforts in expanding the world and introducing new emotions. The team is eager for audiences to discover these additions.
The film’s popularity extended to social media giant TikTok, where it amassed 78 million views in a single day. This success coincides with Disney’s recent announcement of a first-of-its-kind content hub with TikTok to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary.
One of the key factors contributing to the popularity of Inside Out 2 is the introduction of a brand-new emotion, Anxiety. Voiced by Maya Hawke, this frazzled but lovable orange emotion joins the familiar cast of Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust.
Inside Out 2 is set to release exclusively in theaters on June 14, 2024. The anticipation is high, and fans worldwide are eagerly waiting to embark on this new emotional journey.
